JOIN ME FOR THERAPEUTIC SESSIONS USING APPROACHES SUCH AS COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT), AND MINDFULNESS
My name is Megan Cornelissen and I am an expat psychologist, with Filipino/Dutch roots, currently working from The Netherlands. Starting from a Filipino based school, moving into an international high school, and finally moving to the Netherlands to complete my higher education in international institutions. This has allowed me to acquaint myself with different cultures and personalities.
I now hold a Bachelors in Social Sciences from the university college Roosevelt, in which I finish courses in biomedical sciences, cognitive science, and psychology, and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Utrecht University. I am also a member of the professional association of psychologists in the Netherlands (Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen, NIP).
About Me
Approach to therapy
Before opening my practice in the Netherlands, I completed a clinical internship in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in Thailand. Being exposed not only to the various difficulties these individuals have experienced, but also to the holistic approach to treatment, using different methods of treatment, and including practices such as mindfulness and meditation. I find it extremely important to individualise therapeutic approaches specified to the clients’ needs to achieve the best positive outcome.
I provide therapy to individuals based in the Netherlands using an integrative approach. I individualise each treatment depending on the specific needs of each client. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but I do believe in the continuous pursuit of knowledge, to become well-versed in different and new evidence-based practices and strategies to apply in our sessions, accustoming to the needs of each client. Therefore, I currently incorporate approaches not only from CBT but also from schema therapy and mindfulness-based interventions in the Netherlands.
